Amy Lewis, Ed.D., is an assistant professor of humanities for INTO George Mason University and affiliate faculty for the Higher Education Program in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She teaches and coordinates humanities courses in the INTO Mason Graduate International Pathways Program and currently serves as the project manager for the Mason International Collaborative.
Her specialties include international education, intercultural learning, East Asia-U.S. relations. With nearly two decades of experience in the public higher education and government sectors, Dr. Lewis has worked in the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. Her extensive travels have led her to 40 countries.
Dr. Lewis is an active leader in education professional associations. She currently serves as secretary to NAFSA’s Embassy Dialogue Committee on Education. She previously was the national director for professional development to the Society of Intercultural Education, Training, and Research and vice president to the Fulbright Association National Capitol Area Chapter.
Her doctorate is in educational leadership with a concentration in international education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her scholarship includes 2 grants for educational technology projects, 6 publications on international education, and 16 higher education conference presentations. She also completed a Fulbright to Taiwan for teaching and research on international education.
