This privacy policy governs your use of the AcePace (the "App") for mobile devices. The App is owned and operated by George Mason University.
User Content and Recording
The core functionality of the App involves recording audio of your voice to analyze and measure your speech pace. By using the App, you consent to having your voice recorded while using the App's recording feature. The App will process and analyze the audio data locally on your device to provide you with metrics about your speech pace, cadence, and related measurements.
Data Practices
While using the recording feature, the App temporarily stores audio recordings on your device solely for the purpose of measuring your speech pace. These temporary recordings are not transmitted off of your device. Once the speech pace has been calculated from a particular recording, that recording is permanently deleted from your device's storage.
The App does log certain usage data, including timestamps of when you use the recording feature and the speech pace metrics calculated from those recordings. This usage data log containing pace metrics is stored locally on your device only. It is not transmitted to any servers or databases.
Data Retention Any temporary audio recordings are permanently deleted from your device immediately after being processed to calculate speech pace metrics. The usage data log containing timestamps and pace metrics is retained on your device and is not automatically deleted. You can manually delete this log data from within the App settings.
Third-Party Services
The App does not transmit any audio recordings, data, or other information to any third-party companies, analytics services, or servers. All App functionality operates locally on your device.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 13. The App and its services are not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.
