INTO Mason Transition to Gateway

Body

Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to share that George Mason has established Gateway as its new model for intensive English language and international academic programs. These programs, previously delivered through INTO Mason, will continue with a strong focus on academic preparation and support for non-native English-speaking students at George Mason.

As many of you know, this work began in fall 2025 and marks an important step in bringing these programs fully into the university and strengthening how we support international students.

You will begin to see the Gateway name reflected across campus. We ask that you use “Gateway” when referring to the program moving forward.

Under this model, the university will lead academic programs and student support. We are pleased to continue our relationship with INTO University Partnerships as a recruitment partner supporting international student enrollment.

As this transition continues, please keep the following in mind:

  • Academic programs and support services will continue without disruption.
  • Course offerings remain unchanged through the fall 2026 semester.
  • Program updates will begin in January 2027 and will be communicated outside the catalog cycle.

The current INTO Mason website will serve as the primary source of information during this transition, and you will begin to see Gateway reflected there. For this catalog cycle, it will also serve as the primary location for program details and course listings, rather than the university catalog. A refreshed site and new URL are expected this summer, along with a list of catalog courses for January 2027. Please refer to the Gateway Transition webpage for the most current information and begin sharing with your units.

Thank you for your leadership and partnership.

Sincerely,

Ajay Vinzé
Interim Provost and Executive Vice President

Janette Muir
